Excel on wet salt sand

cap

New member
I've had my excel for about a year and it works fine on land, took it a couple times to an ocean beach and it's good on the dry sand but on wet it will not groud balance and falses often. It this the general situation on this unit. Thanks for any imput.

that has no salt ground balance mode. Best bet is to balance in the dry sand and then reduce sensitivity to eliminate falsing. If you notice the falsing is giving a small positive number like +1 to +3, then you can also increase the Disc level to ignore it.

and got surprising depth.

I GBed on dry sand, then moved to wet to hunt. I used all-metal mode and basically ignored the signals that I came to recognize as false ground beeps (they usually occur at the end of the sweeps or when the coil touches the sand).

I was digging good, deep targets this way, some at 10-12" or more!

The Excel seemed to work fine this way down to just above the surf line where the sand is saturated and mucky.
