Excel abroad

My new ID Excel arrived this morning. I already tested it and found that my weddingband is easily located when wrapped around a rusty roman nail. I have found that this only applies for higher conductive targets, because I also tested this on a small pewter badge, which sounded nice and crisp (and deep) until I put the nail right next to it. I will put the excel through a tough test tomorrow, when I am hunting the (extremely heavily hunted) site where there once was a Celtic temple. So.... maybe I'll have some Roman/ Celtic stuff to show you tomorrow!

Welcome Jack! :welcome:
& best of luck out there with your new Excel. We hope to see some of those goodies soon....

The Excel did it! Arrived at the site and it was hot and the soil was crumbling and superdry. On top of that: the farmer had just scraped the soil open, so no normal detection possible due to the loose soil. After a hour or so I pretty much understood the signals the ID was giving me. Just as I was about to lower sens and disc I got a nice crisp sigal. It was a small Celtic coin at about 7 inches (in this soil, mind you!) and it was ON EDGE! I am no boasting fool.... and would have difficulty in believing suchg a claim but there it is. After this short visit I went to a river foreshore and found some live rounds from a Luger Jerry WW II gun plus: on top of a deeper iron cable to fasten a ship I found a timy half cent . Incredible but true. This machine is a winner if you take the time to interpret the signals.

forgot to mention that the small coin found on the river foreshore was not EXACTLY on top of the iron chain. there was approx. 7 inches between them.
