Excalibur V Other underwater units...

I have an E-trac and love it even though I haven't come close to mastering it.... I live on the gulf coast and want to be able to work in and around salt water.... What about the Excalibur makes it worth the extra bux? Any and all replies are welcome and encouraged!!! Thanx..

Many just bag there none waterproof detector for wet sand hunting. I would not go in the water where a drop could be the end. But I have always hunted around the water and waves with none waterproof detectors. I have seen many post of how to do this in many ways. I would believe the E-Trac could be killer on the beach wet sand!

The Excalibur in pin point works very much like a PI machine and is almost as deep. It is waterproof (of course) and is multiple frequencies which makes it pretty stable in waves / wet sand / water.

Plus it is a great land machine.

I see more Excaliburs on the beaches than any other machine although White's Surf PI dual field is making inroads.

Is it worth the money? I say yes. But that is just my opinion. Others may say no.

The Excalibur is probably the most modified detector in history. I see more machines with remote switches, straight shafts, changed coils, higher output batteries, high tech head phones. Lots of options to tailor it to your type of hunting.

I had an E-trac and it was a great machine. But I found that I was tempted to get too close to the water with it. Since getting the Excalibur, I have gotten better at detecting as I pay more attention to sounds. Sound is key to detecting in my opinion.

I agree with EZ, I would take a look at the CZ21 also..Both machines (Excalibur and CZ21) are a great addition to any water setup, special the Gulf of Mexico where I know several of each used.

Well.... I took my brand new Excalibur II out to the beach today.... Purely pleased ... Did not get to hunt long but got to start getting used to it... Did find one penny and will keep it for posterity!! Thanks for the comments and suggestions
