Excalibur threshold question

New member
I just bought a excal 1000 and happen to notice after turning it off, i can move the knob a little more counter clockwise and it turns on again
is this normal

Nope...if it still works I would push it to winter time. It should be fine, you just have to make sure it turns off, very common with the excaliburs since several use the bigger knobs which can cause this by over turning. Minelabs will fix it for 105.oo last I heard.

.check out the video at 20 seconds.

just disconnect the battery cable to make sure it is turned off when you finish hunting. Should be a quick fix by Minelab....HH

Thanks for the info, i don't think i will buy used any more , going to sell it and disclose there's a problem and just buy a new one

There is no problem buying used IMO. You can get one for half the price and if you get it off the forum you have a better shot of getting what you paid for. I bought a used one the coil and headphones had been replaced.....what did that tell me? It had been to ML. I dont know what you paid for the used one.... but i bet it wasnt $1500. So $150 for that repair and they will go over it and pressure test it for you..... then id say its better than their new ones. You also get 6 mos warranty on that repair. Its a win win even thou we dont like sending them in and loosing time. Trust me .... same thing can happen with a new one. You know the problem so you can adjust to it by not plugging in the battery until you get where you are going to hunt. With 2 locations for repairs on the Xcals it should speed up repairs. However, mine only took about 10 days.
