Excalibur replacement battery pack?

TwoRivers

New member
I have a Excalibur 1000 detector........I'm considering buying a replacement battery for it....Looking on E-Bay I found a rechargeable battery and charger for 50 some dollars ..Battery pack is made in the US and offered by ONLYBATTERYPACKS in Sussex Wisconsin.
Looks like a good price and you get instructions on how to install. Seller also said the charging time is about 2.5 to 3 hrs.

Anyone using Excals with this product I would like to hear your comments.................................Thanks John in Virginia.....

Thats probablly just for the batt pack itself. You'll need to find an alkaline batt pod to install it in. Or buy a dead/used rechargable batt pod and switch out the guts.

Get it. I have replaced several factory batteries with their batteries and they last a whole lot longer. No need for an extra pack as you cannot out detect the time those batteries give you. One of the top 3 things to change on the Excalibur is the batteries and those are the ones to get. 1600 MAH and plenty of power. BTW...you can use the factory charger with those batteries and it works just fine.

I bought the battery pack and the charger from OnlyBatteryPacks. The cells are low discharge cells which means they hold a charge a lot longer than Minelabs normal battery pack. If you go detecting for a couple of hours you don't have to recharge right away and it will hold its' charge. I get about 8-10 hrs of detect time with it. Together they are around $50 and worth every penny, they work great. The charger is computer controlled and tops off the charge on the battery to maximum. They have a basic instruction sheet on how to change the battery pack in/out the pod. You will need to buy some divers silicone grease before hand for the o ring and putting the end plug back in. They also have have pig tail adapters for other Minelab batteries for use with the charger. Very good custom product.

good diggin........................randy

Question?............Is it normal for the battery to get pretty hot at the end of the charging period....A friend and myself purchased the battery packs and the quick charger.....Everything seems to be working okay....thanks ......................John in Virginia

Just be careful if you ever intend to submerge your detector. A tech at Minelab told me that if the battery pod leaks it may fry the whole detector. I opted for a new pod instead based on this info. The charger sold by the guy who makes these packs is wonderful!

I have 3 of them and have been using them almost daily for several years with no problems and my pods are completely submerged 99% of the hunts. Just make sure you silicone the "O" ring and seat it properly

NO not normal

My charge system

With a quick charge charger the batteries may get a bit warm as my quick chargers which are 500-750 Mha out put will make the batteries get pretty warm, the chargers that put out around 250 or so you can feel some warmth to them when they are fully charged.
