Excalibur repairs cost ?

Hey guys a metal detectorist wants to know will he have to buy a a coil and cable when he sends his Excalibur into Kelly co to to fix the coil cable its weather cracked, but the coil itself works fine! Are they permanently attached to each other ? So if one goes bad! They both need to be re placed. And if so what's he looking at for a cost. $ thanks waterhound

Have um send the old coil back......then take a look at some of Mel Parkers threads on repairing them. Yes they are hard wired and that cable isnt being replaced..... he gets a new coil. For cost have him call Kelleyco........ also how long.

The 8 inch Tornado is ready for paint and the two 10 inch Tornados are waiting for wire and epoxy.

Currently Minelab Repair at Kellyco is running months behind on repairs. I have had a machine there 16 weeks and no estimate of when they might get to the machine as there are others who have had machines there weeks longer than mine.

Minelab claims that they are concerned with the extremely long wait time and going to take action to correct the problem.

Nice work Mel!! Good to see some one taking the time to fix them........., cables just don't last on those new coils.

Thanks guys for your help, my hunting buddy is probably going to rubber coat his coil cable to cover the weather cracks , any ideas on a material he could use to water water proof a cable ? Until he can save up money to buy a coil . watrhound

What he will find is that cable will crack in other places. His main issue is water getting into the outter casing...... where ya think its going to go?

Mel........ whats the down side of replacing a cablek by cutting it toward the bottom and top, soldering the wires.... using swrink tube on each wire with aqua seal..... then swrink tube over the main cable at the cuts? Bulk creating possible leakage?

Dew I believe the only way to fix a cable correctly is the way that I'm doing it. The cable I use is $3.62 per foot and it is continuous flex chemical resistant cable, it will out last the coil.

I have done mel's fix it on two of my coils and they both work great, Thanks Mel that saved me a lot of money, and they work great.

Awwww..... get your point Mel. If the cable cracked..... its not worth fixing because it will just worsen over time and crack somewhere else.

Hey Mel...... have you seen Matty St. James new way of doing headphone/PPer hook up? Hes using a splitter. Only one wire going into the cap thru a SS CTX connector.
