Excalibur Rechargeable Battery Pod Repair Help

Gamblur

New member
Hello,

My Excalibur NiMH Rechargeable battery pod died out on me a couple days ago (I have had it for 3 years). I thought the batteries were shot but when I opened it up the black and red wires were severed where the plug is (the red is hanging on by the insulation). For you experienced users, is this fixable? I am not particularly handy when it comes to wiring etc. Anyone else have this happen?

I contacted minelab and they said to send it for repair but I am afraid of the cost.

Thanks!

Hummm i have my Xcal in for repair..... $75 an hour labor.

From the pictures; if you know anyone who has done some soldering of electronics wires, I'd suspect the wires can be readily reattached. Then, I'd be careful where the wires sit in the pod when the end cap is put back on so they don't get pinched again.
Good luck to you!

Very easy fix

First make sure you mark on the out side of the ikelite which wire goes where, then take a dremal and grind out all the plastic around the 2 connections. then flux and resolder them, then refill with a 2 part epoxy..maybe a 20 minute job...main thing is to get all back where they were....correct wiring
