Excalibur Plastic Screw

Waterdog

Well-known member
I Sent my Excalibur in for a Change in Coils, purchased a Straight shaft, and was ready to hunt the water!
When I got to the lake I find that the Plastic Screw holding my coil on in not there. Well I had a regular steal screw that would fit right in there. So I put the steal screw in and was ready to go out and Enjoy my day. Out in the water my machine sounded just fine. But I had just found Two bottle caps, and now a pennie that both sounded the same?
I took that steal screw out and put in a Plastic Zip tie and the Excalibur sounded the way it should have. Discrimated out the bottle caps, High tones on the coins, and low tones for the GOLD.
Don't ever use anything but plastic screws to hold your Excalibur coils on!
Someone back a number of years ago told me that they thought you would be able to use a metal screw as it would not be in motion. I guess they was wrong.

Waterdog if you are going to put in a steel nut and bolt it must be a high grade stainless steel i have been using one for years and works perfectly. i have tried it with the nylon bolt then with the stainless steel and there's no difference.:detecting::
