Hello Folks,
Have the Excal plastic battery pods changed over time? Are the Excal II pods interchangeable with the earlier generation Excal pods? Have the plug types changed at all from the 1st generation Excal? Thanks in advance, much appreciated.

Best Regards,
Steve

Blue, Yellow & 2 R interchangeable old Red had a square ear that could B cut to fit B,Y,2 Don't know if it would work the other way

G'day Steve,
Just as Erik said, they have over time changed but with a little surgery the new ones will fit fine.
Just cut the lugs on the control pod and all is well.
Iv'e been through a few batt pods due to age and the odd drop now and then. I still use my old Excal and it's 13yrs old and going strong.
cheers and HH

Yes, the NY Excals '94-'96 had squared edges and the '97 to the present had the newer styled angular edges.

Hello All,
Thanks a lot for this information!

Best Regards,
Steve

Hello Mel, the Excal NY series were hand built by Gary Storm and his team in New York for Minelab initially, before the units went into mass production in 1997. They were hand made there from '94-'96 and they are suppose to be superior to the later models. The overall build quality is superior from what I can tell initially. I have recently purchased one and am in the process of determining that theory.
