Excalibur Modification...

After a couple hours at the beach Tues. my arm was tired and wrist numb. The thing has always felt way too heavy. Back home I got to thinking about the straight shafts with the control/battery mount behind the elbow. I had a hip mount that I got with the machine but stopped using since everyone said my cable would eventually fail.

Long story short I put the hip mount sticking out the back of the shaft and added a new arm cup. I drilled through the cup, mount and shaft and secured the thing with two stainless bolts. I can not believe the difference! It feels like a new machine! The balance is perfect - puts the weight on your arm instead of having to hold up the weight. It just glides around almost effortlessly! I have not tried it in the water yet but I am sure it will be much better. Added bonus - I can put the extra coiled wire way up the shaft next to the hand grip (less resistance in the water).

This is just an FYI post for anyone in the situation that I was... like the machine but hate the weight. Try it, you will be shocked at what the balance does.

I usually post on the Explorer forum since that is my main squeeze.

I Modified my hip mount, I purchased a 2 inch web belt and drilled 3 holes and attached the unit to the belt.

Now i also use the straight shaft and with the unit mounted to my waist, I can swing a long time and with a severe neck injury this was the best way to go, As for people saying that it puts stress on the cables, There correct.!!!

You need to secure the cable coming from the unit that when you are swinging the shaft, That it will not affect the the cable,I looped the cable at the unit, and secured with tie clips and duct tape, and have used many times with out problems.
