Excalibur Knobs

Ohio bud

New member
I sold my old original Excalibur and just purchased a new one. I got the 800, not the Excalibur 2 from a dealer in Canada. When it arrived one knob was broken and the "Off-Threshold" knob just turned on the shaft. I tried to tighten it with just a little socket, no handle on it, and it broke. Minelab is sending me two new knobs, but the design just doesn't look good to me. Does any have a suggestion on fixing these knobs or replacing them with ones with a set screw??

Thanks, Ohio Bud

I bought a used Excal this past summer and ALL the knobs would just spin and spin!! All of them tighented up, except one which blew apart, much like yours I'm guessing!! Minelab sent me a new set and so far, everything is just fine, but I do have the old ones as backups. I also ordered a set of aftermarket ones with set screws, just in case the Minelab ones didn't work out. I also bought one of their straight shafts and a knob guard too!! So far, though, so good!!

Hey craig you can buy the aluminium tube at any good supplier and then buy the handle and the shaft cam lock from miners den for around $20.00 the rest is just drilling .i have made one for my sovereign goes great, terry in oz [sunshine coast qld]:detecting::ausflag:

Thanks to everyone who answered my question. I will buy the knobs and the hip mount for sure. I use the detector when I travel, so I don't think the straight shaft would work as I have to break it down to pack it.
