Excalibur II or 1000?

I have an opportunity to get my hands on a nearly new Excalibur II, in which case I would sell my Excal 1000. I am trying to determine if there is any real advantage to the II. The unit still has a full warranty, so that is a plus. I also understand that the coil on the II is significantly lighter. Is there any plus to keeping the 1000?

The Excal II has the nimh battery also and really has long battery life, you could get those batteries put in the older pods but just another thing that is a plus on the Excal II.
performance wise I think they are about the same.

The Excalibur II has better noise shielding. The older Excaliburs seem to have in some opinions better sound. I have owned both and now own a II. I kind of prefer the II because it to me is just a tad bit more stable. Plus and older Excalibur is older.....so it may be just a little bit more prone to needing to be fixed eventually. I also like the look of the newer II's.

If it came down to buying a brand new II or keeping an old Excalibur, I'd keep the older one and update. New NIMH battery. Remote pin point / discriminate switch. New coil. Straight shaft. Doc's Treasure amp. Better headphones. Plugger's shaft lock.

Just my opinion.

I have all three-Blue, Yellow 1000 & the 2 Blue has much better headphone tones & although I have replaced the batteries with the NiMH due to age I have never not been able to finish a hunt with either one & I re charge after each hunt
