Excalibur II lower shaft question

Question about the Excalibur II lower shaft. I am trying to use the lower shaft from an Excalibur I on my Excalibur II, but the end is too skinny for my coil ears. There is a lot of extra space. Question is: does the the Excalbur II have spacers between the ears to make the shaft fit snug or does the shaft fit snug without spacers? My Excal II dive shaft doesn't need spacers so I'm thinking the regular lower shaft shouldn't need spacers, either.

Thanks much for the help!

minelab has made only two lower shafts for the sov/excal series and they stopped long ago with the first one which was the thinner of the two. on both they use the same teardrop washers(is that what your referring to as spacers?) and on both you should have a tight fit......using the teardrop washers.

Thanks Niel, but the lower shaft I have has roound holes not tear drop like my Excal II scuba shaft. Hmm.

There are only the rubber washers..... and it fits snug with no play between the ears. If you have room between the ears i dont know why nylon washers wouldnt work thou. I would have preferred there be some space where we could put washers... either rubber or nylon. If you notice as you tighten the bold it tends to pull the ears in.... if you lean on your detector, and everyone does out deep, it may crack the ears or separate the bottom of the coil. I also dont like the full thread bolt so i changed mine out to a nylon 1/4 by 20 partial thread for strength.

Thanks for the replies. Looks like I have a shaft form another Minelab model.

The lower end of the shaft has a rubber tear drop washer either side. The stem for a Excalibur 1000 and Mk11 are the same so you should not have a problem.
