Excalibur II Battery Charger

GeorgeinSC

Well-known member
I do not like not being able to know if the battery of my Excal has completed charging.

I have been looking and considering the after market charger that is offered on The big auction house or the one offered by the company that sells battery packs for the Excal.

Has anyone had any experience with this type of charger for the Excal and is it worth the money. Also don't want to get something that will damage an expensive battery.

Thanks

George, I use a Battery Tender (small version from Walmart) to charge my Excal batteries. It is a smart charger + shows when the battery is fully charged via colored lights. It also maintains a trickle charge after that. Only complaint is that I have to use a couple of nails as electrodes as it is made for vehicle batteries and comes with alligator clips. One day I will get around to the electronics store and get some probes that will fit more exactly for it.

I only used the factory charger once and couldn't stand not knowing what the charger was doing- if it was fully charged, in the process of charging, or even over charging my expensive battery. I got tired REAL fast checking it with a voltmeter.

I would get a cheap voltage tester off ebay for a few bucks...I test mine before ever hunt, nothing worse the getting out and getting that viral whine.

I use the one offered by the company that sells battery packs for the Excal that you see on ebay. Works great, has red / green light to let you know when it is charging and when it is reached peak charge.
Cheers,

Johns got your answer. Onlybatterypacks makes the best. Make sure its output is close .... if not it will only charge to that output. Standard charges to about 14.2 DCV i believe.

I use the SMART Charger sold by ONLY BATTERY PACKS in Penna., and I have been using it for (3) Yrs.,!! I really LIKE IT, but YOU still have to TIME IT based on the AMOUNT of MAHS in your Battery Pack!! I think they SUPPLY a SHEET with all the CHARGING TIMES based on the SIZE Batteries in CONJUNCTION with the AMOUNT of MAHS!! Or it's on their WEBSITE, I Copied IT, FOLDED so it Fits inside the Box that the charger comes with it!! After I do a SLOW FULL Charge, I let the EXCAL Battery C-O-O-L for about an HOUR!!
Then I check the BATTERY POD Charge with a AMP Meter from Harbor Freight, and it should READ OVER 1400 mah's!! If YOU have any QUESTIONS, CALL ME, and I'll answer
them via PHONE!! It's Easier for Me that way!! My Cell# (302) 354-5661. Les Robinson.

Thanks for the Info. Looks like I will be ordering one. Just did not want to get something that would ruin a Very Expensive battery.
