Excalibur Head Phone Ikelite Connector Modification

landman

Member
I called Minelab USA yesterday. Asking them if
they still do the modification in house in removing the
headphones and replacing with an ikelite connector.
I did this with them several years ago with a Excal2
The said they do not do this type of modification any longer.
He said he heard of someone in boston doing it.
Does anyone know who does this?
When GreyGhosts are connected to this machine
all I can tell you is that it sounds just like
the old Red headphone Excal. The sounds are robust,
sharper and cleaner.
Thanks!

Joe would be your best bet especially since he makes the end caps. ANY modified headphone is a HUGE improve over the yellows. Im using Joes skullies which are about twice as loud as the GGUW. They are like putting on a pair of Pro Golds. You might consider also changing out your muffs..... huge improvement for cutting out exterior noise.... like kids.

I can do them just PM me. And I agree the old reds and aquas were one of a kind. I do a mod to the UW GreyGhost Originals that improve the audio by a lot, by taking out the audio coil they put in them to make them universal for all detectors, this little coil dampens the audio.
