Excalibur disc1 vs disc9

short and simple question.

my new favorite location has lots of foil in the water, probably a few pieces per square meter (1m

Small think 10 k gold rings...have almost the same conductivity as a pull tab or aluminum foil. Discriminate out all that trash and your going to lose a few rings. If they are there. What your finding is typical. Just hunt the place slow an steady. HH Joe

I do get signals from pulltabs and do dig them up, frequently they appear to be small rings ;) all 18k though since 18k is THE standard in Belgium where I "work" ;)
I do have two 1xgr rings here and they do give a signal when I test them in disc9

the place is incredible though, even after all the people who have already searched here, it still produces 1-2-3-4 gold items a day :) just incredible. I do find very few silver rings though, most competitiors must have taken them out

Do me a favor, if you have that many gold items on the beach and in the water hunt with Disc at 1. Clean out the foil as you go and eventually your time betwen gold will get less and less, just my opinion.

Gerry

my Excal's and GT's only hit on foil if its balled up or very large....i always hunt in Disc but set at 0. my rule is set them up to accept a nickel and you will get the Gold!
