Excalibur Coil Position Problem

fsa46

Member
How are you Excalibur owners keeping your coil from moving ? The ears on the coil are so thick that I can't tighten the nylon bolt enough to keep the coil from moving. The rubber washers are positioned correctly but I just can't tighten it enough.

if you keep snugging up the plastic wing nut but it dont get tight ,then the plastic bolt is stripped......new ones are very cheap.....some people go a step further and make a plastic bracket which anchors to the lower rod and forces the coil to stay in a fixed position....

You can make a coil bracket that will hold the coil in one position. I prefer mine snug but moveable. Do a search for coil brackets or some dealers sell them. Probably Kelly-Co or the forum dealers. HH :minelab:

The bolt definitely isn't stripped , but if I keep tightening it, it surely will. I have already bought 6 extra, of every size nylon nut and bolt that came with it. I know some people that drill out the hole and go with a bigger size bolt and that is what I will do when it is out of warranty....but that's a long way off.

Try a extra washer...or larger size compared to the stock. 6/6 nylon

rough up the washers a little on the side that touches the coil ears and also you can rough up the ears a little. use sandpaper for both, but rough up just a little, you will get a better grip.
