Excalibur Battery Pods & Epoxy?

I Dig U DIg

New member
I recently tried to add a new Nimh battery to an old Excalibur 1000 battery pod. Only to find out that the Maxxpack battery will not fit. I then tried it in an alkaline battery pod and had no problem.

Has anyone else had the same problem? Two different size battery pods?

I am also looking for suggestions on Epoxy. I need to find an Epoxy that stays clear and is waterproof. I have found a few at Lowes, but they have a yellow tint and say water-resistant.

Any Suggestions?

It's the way they are made, the alkaline is lighter duty, only rated to just under. Which I use one on my excalibur and it's submerged all the time to maybe 5 to 6 feet and never a problem. The regular pod is heavier and made for going deep and I believe the walls are a little thicker.

I've used several epoxies, the slower drying the clearer they are...

I did the same battery replacement a few years ago and had the same problem. . I had a heck of a time forcing the replacement battery in.. i believe i tapped a slight flat spot on the outside of the battery and used some lube to squeak it in there...

Awesome thanks for the advice.

I called Ikelite today and asked about part #4105 & #4101. Turns out both are discontinued.

Anyone happen to have 2 #4105 laying around that they could part with?

I got a replacement battery for my Excal and had a heck of a time sliding the new one back in, hopefully I won't have to change for a while because its going to be difficult to remove. HH Ron

I just shaved the plastic off the three sided and ive replaced 3. Yes dont know if they only make the for ML now but they changed all their underwater light systems... new connectors. What ya trying to do.... they have some ultraviolet plastic now that works well.
