New member
I just paid 150.00 dollars for a new excal-battery for my 1000, so I took apart the old Ni-cad 5-years old, and traced the brand and numbers back, and this is what I found.

GP 70AFK 2/3AF Size 1.2 Volt 700 mAh NiCD Rechargeable Battery
Quantity in Basket:SKU GP70AFK Lowest$0.50

GP NiCad Rechargeable Batteries: 70AFK 1.2V 700mAh Battery

Standard Charge 2.5h at 70mA
Recyclable
Imported

50 cents apiece x 10 cells in each pod =5,00 bucks and I just paid 150.00 dollars I'm a idiot.

You can order the new inside cells with connector off the net for $47.00 unless they have gone up in the last few months. Also get them rebuilt at Batteries Plus. But you know what you got. Use Silicone grease on the O rings when you re-seal. Don't feel bad you are not the first person to do this you are at least behind me. HH :minelab:

Just looked up the alkaline pod and it alone is $80 plus you probably got the Nickle hydride pack for $150 which is the better pod as Minelab discontinued the Ni Cad pack which was $95 last price I seen on one.
I think you will see that this new pod will last longer than your old one and like what was said have the old one rebuilt with Nickle hydride and you will have a extra pod to change out when needed.

I knew, I should have come here first and asked questions. The bottom line the new NI-MH cell are $2.50 apiece .Sorry for the rant guys, I believe in capitalism but we're getting raped.I guess I'll be making my own .Thank you for the information guys.

easiest way to feel better about it is to plug it in and go find some gold and forget about it......good luck and thanx for educating me....

that's what u get when u dont ask the forum before u buy

Rooster,

Sorry that you were taken. It SUCKS to get that sinking feeling when you discover something like that. Not that it comforts you any, but I got taken for $18,000 by an Australian girl a few years back... Between us, who is the greater IDIOT?!! LOL

Hi Guys,

WOW! What happened! I just got back from a great vacation in the Green Mountains of Vermont. Prior to leaving

I made a statement about the mark-up of 10-cheap battery cells .50 cent per which we all pretty much got taken on.

I came back from my vacation, decide to read my emails telling me that members have left responses to

my string, and now I find out I'm a sensitive guy. This couldn't come at a better time ,my wife cursed me out all week

about not being a sensitive person , she has to read this string, thanks guys. By the way "Great" news on the way back

from Vermont we stopped in at one of the CT. casino's,well I hit the roulette table for just over 3-HUN-big ones.

I guess my new battery is paid for, thanks to the man upstairs for looking out for me on this one , and guess who got the

rest of it. That's right the nag!....."All's Well That Ends Well".

And to "tomcatpl" I believe I already made that statement in the second entry above yours. No one likes a smart guy!
