excalibur battery conections

I noticed that my connection holes in the battery always get gummed up with a greenish acid powder . Does anyone else have this problem ? How to prevent this? ,thanks

Diaelectric (sp?) grease...or is it dielectric? You can find this stuff at auto parts stores in little packets. Some call it boot grease because it's meant to be put on spark plug wires to prevent oxidation. Only put a very thin coat of it on there. Too much will prevent the flow of electricity. Just dab it on and then wipe it off with a Q-tip. It's meant to prevent oxide build up on electrical connections.

What Critter suggested will work fine but I prefer silicone grease. Silicone grease just seems to last longer. It can be purchased in the plumbing department at Home Depot or Lowe's. Clean the connections good before using either. HH :minelab:

I flush battery holes & plug with FRESH WATER after EVERY use ASAP & never encounter that problem (3 excals & many years)

Same as Eric, Just wash the detector off after each use. Take the battery off and wash it out too! Water hunting is bad on machines.
