Excalibur 800 or 1000

Hey Sonny! I faced exactly the same problem you are facing and finally chose the excalibur 2. I had a few chances to buy used and new excal 1000's and 800's by going on ebay. Ebay is a great source for used items but, theres no warranty and personally I didnt want to spend close to a grand on something that might take a dump on me in 6 months with no way to have it fixed.In the end I followed some of the more knowledgeable members here and splurged for a II. It has a better battery NIMH instead of NICAD (means less memory and longer lifespan). It is also supposed to be a more stable machine as well. All in all, I hinge my moneys worth on a good warranty any time. P.S. dont listen if someone tells you their used excal is under warranty still. Minelab warranties are non transferable... Good Luck! Dont forget to spare some dough for a good scoop! I didnt and im toting a shovel around...lol
