Excalibur 800 or 1000

Hello All: It's been a while since I've had a chance to go hunting or to post anything, busy with a new hotel project. Based on the few times I've been able to scan the posts it's going to be a good year for everybody, WTG.
I've finally found a Minelab dealer who will ship to Bermuda and have saved up the money to buy an Excalibur, so just one more question.
Which coil is better the 8" or the 10". The beaches here are really trashy and I would assume that there will be a fair amount of trash in the surf though significantly less than on the beach (wet/dry sand).
To all you surfhunters swinging Excals -
Do you think the 800 or the 1000 is the water hunting coil?
Thanks for your input, greatly appreciated as always.

Go with the 1000, because you will cover a greater patch of surf and not have to overlap quite as much. You should also realize a bit of increase in depth like Ron said. Have run the unit in trashy surf and lake areas and it is the "cat's meow" for a trashy area. See my posts as of late in the lake. Hunted it previously with a pi and it liked to have killed me for all the nails. Now the Excal just humms right over those babies and I just scoop up the non-ferrous pretty much, unless it is a large ferrous target like a boat anchor, etc. We have a business meeting in August and I may get to come and see you in Bermuda!

Thanks for the good advice Gulfhunter, Vabeachron, Goldinwater et al, I had been leaning towards the 1000 but wanted to be sure before I made the investment (by the time I pay duty and shipping it will be over $1,500 US). Duty is the price you pay for living in a tax shelter, but hey you have to pay something for living in paradise.
Mi casa su casa Gulfhunter, I live at Cambridge Beaches in Somerset which is on the west end of the island. Bring a carry bag for you detector as you may wind up on a scooter, it is either that or a taxi as you cannot rent a car on the island. Hope you can make it.
