What is the advantage the 800 or the 1000 coil for the Excalibur II. I close to buying one and I'm new to water hunting so I'm not sure what coil to get.

What kind of hunting are you going to do, and what state...lakes, rivers, bays, ocean, gulf..east coast, mid-atlantic, florida, jersey shore, I like my 800, in lakes, rivers and the bay. And the 1000 at the ocean....Good Luck....joe

I'll be hunting lakes river ponds in Wisconsin

My little 8oo, which is a 7.5 inch coil is my first choice for small swimming holes and rivers on the excals. Most of the time there is lots of trash, and coins, and treasure at these areas. The 8oo does the best in separating for me..........I also take the fisher CZ20 8 inch, which is my first choice over the Excalibur in the Chesapeake Bay. You may want to see what some of the locals are using, that will give you a better Idea on what works best in your area, and with the type of hunting you are planning on doing......................One thing about the Excalibur in fresh water, PP is very deep..... Good Luck, check with the locals, and maybe someone else on the forum will give you a different view.............Joe

you have better coverage with the 10" and about 2" more depth..the 8" is a bit lighter and glides a little better in the water.both are good!
