Excalibur 2

I'm thinking about purchasing an Excalibur to compliment my arsenal. We are very familiar with the Sov GT, so it should be an easy learning curve. Any special accessories like shaft upgrades, battery covers, coil upgrades, or, should we take it as it comes?

Get a straight shaft. I got a carbon fiber one. Get a knob protector. It just might save your detector a trip to Minelab. Get Peltor HY-80 ear pads for inside the stock headphones. Pick up a AA Battery Pack and insert a rechargeable inside it. (This is for wading only). Pick up a spare coil bolt and new washers. The coil will get sloppy and will require new hardware. Do not torque the bolt too much. It pulls on the sides of the coil and the stress will eventually split the coil. Get a can of silicone spray and spray your cables after a salt water trip. Salt water dry rots the rubber. Take your rods apart and rinse them after salt water or you might never get them apart again. I got bigger knobs on Ebay for mine, but you need to be careful with them. They allow more leverage during adjustment and you can break the stops in the pots.

Goodmore about covered it.... good job. I would replace the lower rod with a Whites and double washers. Since doing that i havent had a problem with wear. Headphones.... be it GG Amp or Skullies after using them, thats an upgrade worth evey penny. Id get a better frigging charger too .... something with a light that tells you its working and charged. Add some lock tight marine epoxy on the coil cover for wear.... those things are like $35 a pop and the edges wear. Personally ..... i dont see a need to have a coil swap, both the 8 and 10 are good coils. Also take a look at Joes PP button if you decide to use PP full time. Changes like these can void the 1 year warranty on a new one.

Ok.... now that we mentioned a good many of the MODs, this gets pricy dont it?

first off tape the 4 holes on the outside of the cups...then open them up & put some clear silicone caulking in each hole on the inside of the cups...now wait 24hrs & let this dry...then I took the 4 pieces of foam ( 2 from each earcup) from a set of 29db shooting headphones & inserted them into my yellows & now I don't get anymore wind whistle, decreasing some of the outside noise & to me the speaker sound is louder ....I also cut off the soft headband piece from the Thunder 29's & glued it to the top band of yellow's for a more comfortable feel.....& in the future I may add some gel pads....HH...Tab.
