EXCALIBUR FEEL COLD
My Excalibur 2 is 8 years old and maybe as old guys it feels cold?!?
In the last outputs the air temperature was close to zero and the water temperature was around 6 degrees. As soon as it is on, it emits a hoarse, high and continuous sound. It stops after about 1 minute. Yesterday it did not stop the sound and I had to give up. Taken home , at home temperature it works perfectly. Let it on the balcony in the cold air the problem was on again.
Have had any of you this problem? Thanks for the attention. SERIC

My advice..... buy one of the new lith batteries. Cold can really affect a battery. Ive had that happen to me ..... worked great at home get to the beach and end up having to play with it. Turning it on and off or playing with the cap. I did the prong separation.... cleaned the male holes..... even took the cap apart to check for corrosion. Ive had NO problems since swapping out to lith. I say lith.... because i tried the 1600 and had issues... the same. The smart chargers not so smart.... it sometimes wont recognize the battery to charge it... then you end up using the ML charger over night. Thats another question....... how long you letting it charge? I highly recommend 12 hours at least.

Thanks for the idea. In fact I had not thought about it. It may be that after 8 years of use, even if only Sunday, the batteries are "tired" and under certain temperatures go into crisis.
I will send the device to the Minelab laboratory for the replacement of the rechargeable batteries (I do not feel able to do it myself) and I am afraid of combining greater trouble.
Thanks again, greetings from Sergio, Italy

One thing is that the Sovereign and the Excalibur needs the voltage to operate correctly as we have seen. We also have seen that cold will effect the voltage of the battery so with that if using in the cold the battery should be fully charged and kept warm until you need it, then it may get you by. One way to tell is once it is charged and before SERIC puts it on his Excalibur is to set machine in the cold so the electronics gets good and cold and then put the warm battery into it and see if it will act up. A good battery is a must on a BBS detector or you will get the low battery alert.
