Excalibur 2 All tricked out.

It's been almost 10 years since I had a 188 ring year or used an Excal. My previous was the 8" Excal w/ the seasearch coil which I loved. I won't be devoting as much time this year. In order to get me going I decided to purchase new and so I introduce to you my Excal 2 all tricked out. I have the special aluminum straight handle upper rod. Minus the knob guard which already I see it getting in the way more than aiding my detecting experience. Also I spent an extra buck or two and had Minelab install the headphone connector and am using the GreyGhost phones instead. Photos below. Happy summer hunting.

now those are some good phones u have there also

when u got the yellow ones back, did they add the plug to those as well ??

Got one just like her, only an 800 (for diving)

I've had it since April but took it out on its maiden voyage just this past Sunday afternoon for a few minutes and scored a nice engraved 14k cross. Water clarity was 6" max. The Excal was a handful when doing the "wiggle" in semi-black water.

I spent the greater part of the time familiarizing my granddaughter with the ins and outs of hookah diving...her first time with compressed air. I see certification on the horizon.

Will go to clear water down-lake next week-end. HH <><

You don't have to but I requested they do. I'll be writing aout the difference later this week between the two headphones. This will come as a surprise to some and welcome to some.
Don't want to give it away yet.

I sent my Excalibur into Minelab to have the Greyghost's wired also. Minelab
says they have about a week and a half backlog, before they get to working on
my machine.
I wish I would have called before I sent my machine out to them. If I would have
known this, I would have waited till winter to have it done. I'm missing valuable
detecting time. Has there service always been like this, or has it gotten worse
since the new ownership?

Hey diver, a week and a half backlog is NOT bad for Minelab. I have waited longer. The service there is excellent, at least while Minelab was under the original management. Have not used them, since the new ownership. If you have a relatively new unit, still under warranty, then you might ask of your selling dealer to call ahead and get the repair/installation expedited for you. A good dealer will do this for a customer, even though it is not an actual repair, it would be worth a shot. In the event you are concerned about down time, it may be a good idea to buy a backup, for times like these. I own 2 Excals, for that very reason. It gave me a nice excuse to own the 1000 & 800. Don't you think that is a good idea? I like it!

Thats a great setup, looking at the photo it looks like they shortened the coil wire??

I ordered mine just like yours 4 months ago ,But i had them put the bbs 1000 0n the excal. Its sweet. The head phones are lighter an the sounds are more clear.

Last week-end while fishing with the Ms Virginia (my wife), while crossing the big water on Ouachita into a stiff headwind, I took a wave over the bow of the boat that drenched everything for the first four feet...including my little digital camera. It is SO dead.

But...I have an older one that uses a small disc (like a half-sized cd) that I retired a year ago. I'll try to get it out and see if I can get it crankin'.

The cross is a splendid little piece (as is all gold  ) and now with the Excal, I am one-for-one. I'll play with the old camera and get the photo up some time this week.

No the coil cable is long. I curled the cable tight up near the handle.
