I have a 15" wonderful orange thing ( I wish I did ) !!! from my old sovy days , Im presuming itl work fine on my blue headphoned scally when its hard wired in correctly ? How many of you Happy Hunters are actually using this combo ? I read in Mr.Clynics scally book that he uses it with great success but what are the fors and against ,?
I think that Max uses this rig as part of his armoury but old Maxy boy does tend to swap and change a bit !!!!! ( the mad inventor )
How hard is it to use in the surf ? what is the weight difference and balance with the 15" on ? is pinpointing any harder than the stock 10" coil , I need to know what problems or benifits I may encounter before I jump in with both feet ,Iearn by opening my ears ! ! Just for the record I will using it on a Yorkshire straight shaft , its similar to your Florida version !!!

thanks for the info happy hunting

Both my husband and I have the Sun Ray 12" on our Excals..........works great..........you will need to work a wee bit harder than with the stock coil. Now as far as the WOT........I just bought one for my Sov. GT.........had to epoxy the bottom because the cover collects sand and water and makes for a heavy carry. It can be like swinging a trash can lid in the water when the waves hit it. It is not as thin as the Sun Ray so the waves catch it and give it a toss. Pinpointing is far superior over the stock coil for both the Sun Ray and WOT. Max is looking for the ultimate machine........you all got any on your side of the pond that you are keeping secret from us?

HI Bobbie,
thanks for your input if you never ask youl never know ! but i didnt want to pay for the conversion and then regret it . I admire Max because he is not frightened to customise and try new ideas . I think it will be a big help having the bigger coil as the beaches i hunt are massive . I was concerned that the pinpointing may have been harder than stock but Max says just inches behind the front nose of the coil and BINGO !! I always use a tip i picked up from Mr.Clynics book ( tho he uses a rod ) I use a fishing line tied from the coil shaft to a wooden toggle in my left hand and this helps the from right to left swing ,thus both shoulders and body take that strain not just the right shoulder and arm try it I can detect 6 - 8 hour sessions no problem
I will let you know how it goes Happy hunting Tony Weston
