Firecracker

New member
I've use my Excalibur at the beach this month and all of sud en it started making this loud noise about every 30 to 45 seconds it sounds like it saying CALL almost like a crow
I checked the voltage out of the battery and the meter reads 12.35 volts not sure what it doing. Any advise will be helpful.

Thank you,
FC

When the battery is getting low it will start making a loud sound about every 30 seconds to let you know you are running low on power.

Recharge and it should be fine. First time it happened to me I wondered what was going on as well.

if ur battery is old it may not hold charge that long go on "feebay" and get a insert replacement battery they are cheeper that getting a new one

I would say as TC and Raven has said, battery issue....................But I have come across a few excaliburs that have had the same issue and it was not the battery. One Turned out to be moister pack inside of the POD was shorting out the board, I'm guessing but it must have been the area that takes care of the voltage..and alarm because once I removed the leaky moister pack, it was fine........the other was battery cable had taken on water and was not allowing the fully amount of voltage to get to the board.

Are there anyother issues? I hope it's just a bad battery....Good Luck, I would get another battery before anything else.

i think someone has excal batteries for sale on the detector accessery forum .... or like was mentioned maxxpacks, com sales just the battery it self for the do it your selfer....

I would agree with the other posters, follow these steps..

1. Fully Charge battery for 12 Hours, making sure that you have a good connection between battery and charger
2. If that doesn't work, clean the connectors on the excal battery connector, check for cracking etc.
3. If 1 and 2 don't work buy a replacement battery from.....well, you know!

Good luck and HH

Take a Qtip with some corrosive spray and clean inside the holes of the battery and the fittings. I hunt a lot with min and have had it below your reading without the low battery coming on. You might also put a multi meter on your charger to see what its putting out.

How long you been using an Xcal? I ask because the Xcal has whats know as PITCH HOLD where it picks up the tone of the last target. Some new people dont know this and believes something is wrong..... but it normal. Does it change when you run your scoop across it .... back to a lower tone?
