Excalibur 1000 plastic pod cracks

New member
I have some small cracks on the reinforcing webs where the pod attaches to the shaft....anyone had these and successfully epoxied them?

You might check out BONDIC its a plastic weld if it works as shown on their video it would be even better and less messy than epoxy. Ive wanted to try it .... but so far no project. But most of the pods have some molding spider cracks. On those ears be careful not to use a metal bolt.... the pods arent going anywhere so very little is needed to keep them there. Also for those who build their own CF straight shaft get it the right OD..... go to small thinking you are saving weight you could cause some real cracks.

Thanks Dew, I will try and get some. The cracks are on the webs that reinforce the ears... and do look like they go into the housing. I did have a few drops of water in the pod.
I recently bought this excal on ebay USA and replaced the top seals as soon as I received it. I am in spain at the moment and minelab Ireland have a one month delay on repairs.

Water may have been from bad o rings. Even good seals you need to be careful when rensing....dont use to much pressure. Could be the pod.....but try that product if you can get your hands on it. No warranty so you would get one for 6 mos on the repair from ML.... plus it would be pressure tested. Personally.... id try the repair.
