Excalibur 1000 falsing

I picked a used, like new, excal 1000. I also have an excal II, with the 1000 I have to turn my sensitivity down to about half or else it falses, I cannot use auto or it falses. Not so with the excal II Any suggestions?

Joe

i have an older excal-1000 and typically when i set my sensetivity higher than half way -staight up-it will start falsing especially from wave action...if i keep it right at half im ok and it works great.....i dont understand why your unit would false in auto, that sounds very unusual.... for the time being i would run it at half sensetivity and see how it compares to your excal ii .... some people say the older excals have a slight edge over the newer ones... either way performance wise they should be very simular....good luck...

My excal II will false also from time to time but if I switch to auto it runs like a top, I have found dimes in the water that will take me two scoop to retrieve, about 10" down, not bad for auto sens....HH

Today I ran it in auto and it worked fine - not sure what to think. It doesn't seem to matter if I am in shallow or deep water 2-5 feet. I think depth wise it is similar to my Excal II, I like the tones of the 1000 Blue headphones much better.

There could be some sand between te coil and coil cover. You have to clean every time you come back from the beach.
