:jump:wiggle:jumpA question for all the Minelab Excaliber users-Are they REALLY that good?I am thinking of upgrading the end of this year-just got Kellyco catalog-they got a whole page full of water detectors-what about the other ones?Garrett?Fisher?Whites?its kinda pricey, but that Beach hunterby Whites, its only good to 25feet!If Im gonna spend the money,I want my moneys worth-How about it-is the Minelab worth it?Thanks in advance,Warthog Steve.:help

Fun machine to hunt with, very responsive, great depth. The variable tone system is great once you learn the tones a little. I can tell if it's a quarter, a penny, or something LOW on the scale, like maybe a gold ring. So I'm not busting my butt to try to recover a penny in the surf.

I had the straight shaft setup on mine but actually just reconfigured it last night to the factory setup. I wanted to try it, as I never did...I went straight shaft right out of the box with mine. But I think I want the top-mount position for the knobs now and having the electronics in front of me vice beside me. It's heavy, but not TOO heavy. And with Memorial Day just behind us and the 4th Of July on the way, I added my own custom graphics to mine, to match the red, white, and blue motif it already has.

I have had a Minelab Excalibur since 1997 and it is a great metal detector. I used it Hip mount as I like to hunt for a few hours in the Water. Never had any leaks and due to it's tone ID I was able to find some nice gold and silver and leave the rest for those other machines to clean up :nopity:
