Excal2 Down! Hawaii

Looking for repair work on my Excalibur 2! After a diving trip several months back I found my battery housing cracked and leaked a tiny amount of water. Several months later I buy a new U/W battery. Plug it in hoping it will start right up, and nothing. On the phone with Kelly co. Figured the problem is a short in the wire. I use a hip mount, so lots of wire movement. I'm not 100% sure on the wire short. Any help on someone that can service my detector would be great! Thanks in advance!

This is the cable I use to replace the battery cable, very flexible...I hunt in saltwater 95% of the time and it has held up superior to the stock. I also used it for the PP remote cable.

Take a look inside the plug that plugs into the battery pod. I was getting crackling took that all apart and that was the problem. Even that green corrosion on the outside can cause an issue. Diving and dive pressure require a lot more inspections afterward. Also remember....... the headphones make the sound. If you now someone who has an Xcal swap batteries and end caps to check both.

It had more of an affect on what was heard thru the phones than depth since i hunt in PP mode. If it was working and now dont....... is it possible its that new battery? is this a tube and battery replacement or did you use the old tube and just replace the battery inside? If so ..... take a look at the connector inside.
