Hello sookie,

Here is the key to glory in this situation. Go to the hardware store and purchase 5/16"X2" hex bolt coarse threaded nylon bolts and nylon wing nuts to fit. Get a 5/16" drill bit and drill coil ears separately, then drill out the lower shaft. Replace the teardrop washers too and stick it all back together, problem SOLVED! About all you have to do to maintain it, is be sure to keep fresh washers on there and no more worries, savvy?

OH yeah, just an FYI, I tried a stainless steel bolt and wing nut, WAY back in '06 and Max reprimanded me, after I installed it. The application is TOTALLY unacceptable, as the unit WILL signal the bolt and it will cause falsing.

You reckon? THANKS! NAAA, I'll leave that job for Clive, he has more of a gift of gab, than I! I can flow info, for short runs, but Clive has MUCH more to offer, on the marathon.
