Excal ?

once after the death squeal-11.87 volts. Checked it the other day after several hunts and still working fine 12.1 volts. Probably less than 12 volts.

How much hunting time did you have between 12.1 and 11.87 thx for the reply going on vacation soon just bought a multimeter HH RonC

You really cant test the battery using a multi meter as it will not put a load on it and you will only get the surface voltage I believe it is called. I have seen many batterys test at 12 volts on the Sovereign and yet they will give the low voltage alert as they test 12 volt using a multi meter, but once the load of the detector is on it there maybe only 9 or less on it to give a low battery alert. What you need is a good battery checker as they will put a small load on the batter and give a truer reading.

Also Ron coil you wanted is still back ordered and will let you know when I get one in for you.

Minelab tells me that the minimum spec is 10.5 volts for a Sov to work. Should be the same for an Xcal. Like you said Rick, that is under load....not a static no-load test.

Those 2 readings were not contiguous. When I have hunted several times, I check the voltage and if it is 12.5 or above I know I can get another 2 to 3 hr hunt in, then I recharge. BTW, this the battery pack from onlybatterypacks.com.
