Excal tones

Not sure if the machine is working correctly. When I hit a pulltab...I get almost an overloaded sound. Problem is. I thought one was a pulltab and it turned out to be a small gold ring. I wish I could record the sound I am talking about. I may do it and post various sounds for others to see if there is a problem with mine. I don't think there is...per say...but there might be. Because when I watch videos its not making that overloaded sound with pulltabs.

Off topic question, and stupid too. But when you dive with this machine...how the heck do you hear it? Just baffles me on how one could dive and hear through the water. Anyway. HH -Joe

stick ur head in a bath tub ..headphones on loud threashold

thru the density of water, it will sound much louder than it does in air. I used to think the same thing until I used a Garrett XL500 back in the 70's, the sound will be there big time. HH

This is a great question and the only way for you to feel comfortable is to find an excal user in your area and switch units for a few minutes. Now The other issue I have to say is your target volume. Pick one and leave it alone or increase it when you need it for one target. If you go hunt one week and set the volume to 70% and then go next week and set it for 80% each target will be different from the week before. This confused me at first now I have learned to change sound at your head phones not the machine! As far as targets go i dig everything in a beach hunt. Unless I am shoulder deep in the water it gets dug. So tones are really little importance(beach) Its nice to know its gold before you dig it, but heck you'll know soon enough. Last night lots of clad $8.22 dug a three scoop deep quarter, did the spiral and second return swing gold sound knew dug it 1/2 10k ring.
