Excal tip or am I doing it wrong

Ok, so I have the sens set to just before falsing threshold just audible, then BAM......it nulls after an iron target, but the problem is that the threshold comes back with that louder low buzz of iron. what if? at that point I adjust the threshold to just barely audible again (during the loud iron sound), do you think it will make a difference in depth and sensitivity?

Thanks and good hunting.

PS.the beaches are really sanded in here in Mass, but I see it moving around with the wind we have been having. anther month I think and we will be in the targets again.

thats what i do.... as long as i have a barely audible threshhold tone when i pass over a good target as well.

u should be able to hear the threshold so u can tell when u have gotten close to a good target................if u swing over the target - Bingo, but if u just swing close by it, u might get a threshold change, spin around and check that out..............it is a great machine and u will get use to it.

if u work near the waves and wind, u need to be able to hear the threshold

some say..............Hunt in silent ....................bummer

my 2 cents worth

Have used an excal once, and it operated the same way. Don't think you got your question answered? (I have the same question.) Question was when you hit an iron target you get the iron buzz but the machine comes back with a much higher threshold that is uncomfortable or too loud for a threshold. Do you readjust to a lower theshold or just run the coil by your scoop to return to the original theshold. Thanks in advance for responses.
