After what seems like months worth of a kitchen remodeling (which isn't quite over YET) Cheryl and I snuck into Hilton Head Island yesterday. She for some sun/relaxation and myself for the opportunity to loosen up and begin to tone muscle groups for my upcoming (and hopefully soon to become YEARLY) assault on Florida's Gulf Coast. We arrived with just less than an hour till low tide and found the beach rather devoid of targets which the detector wanted me to dig. Spent a good couple of hours in a grid pattern going into the water to about knee-deep then back up the beach 75 to 100 ft back and forth into and out of the water which produced precious little but ate up time and energy. Hilton Head's beach has a slight dip then rise before you get to the water at low tide so usually there is a small depression which empties of water then magically begins to fill and covers when the tide rises again. I decided to abandon the grid idea and started working back and forth across the dip and not 20 minutes later out popped the nice little silver ticket. Discovered some new pennies for 2010. Gone is the Lincoln Memorial replaced by a shield which used to adorn 5-cent pieces in the late 1860s but with a "one cent" banner across the shield now. Guess we can chalk that up more of Obama's hope and change. The pennies got rather discolored in my nail apron overnight so they are not pictured and ip you turn your computer moniyor upside down you can see the .925 inside the ring. I didn't have my glasses on when I took the picture so that's what ya get.
Enjoy, hope I have MUCH more to show in the upcoming weeks.
Jim
