Excal Scores Dream Load!....

Gulf Hunter

Active member
Overslept today because I haven't had much sleep lately, between duck and treasure hunting. Duck season is over our way thank goodness. Entered the lane around 830am or so into a 1033am -1.0L with Gulf Huntress. Winds were N at 10-15 knots, but the air temp was around 65-70. She was hunting the dry sand with Ace 250 and a little shallow with the Mark II. The hunt started kinda slow, but things would soon change. coastwise showed up not long after I had started. Had the wetsuit on and was not finding much shallow, so I headed between the 2nd and 3rd bar. Up comes the medallion with Jesus on it. Now he's my God (not neptune) and turns out that fine unit is .750 or 18k. Hooped at coastwise across the water. I could just imagine him saying under his breath "Oh God", then I kept plugging along with a newfound adrenaline dump and up comes the chains. Did I hear someone say Excals don't find chains, I beg to diffa sir! They were intertwined together, by now I was absolutely beside myself. Things kinda slowed down after coastwise left me (my goodluck charm he is). Huntress and I decided to relocate. Not long after I entered the water the cross was glittering in the bottom of my scoop. I picked it out of there and noticed the stone, but I have been dissapointed so many times with cz, I did not hold my breath, but when Huntress put the CZ checkpoint on it DIAMOND! Can you believe it! I guess the 3rd time (Excal) can truly be a charm!

Way to go man! That's a good haul where we hunt. I guess I'll have to get an EXCAL now, maybe just a wet suit so I can get past the 2nd bar. Good job.

Hey man , very nice loot .I wish i could say the same .We went out last night 30 degrees rain and wind. will post pics in couple hours .

There ya go! Just a matter of time before the Excal would bring up the good stuff. Congratulations! I am very happy for you! With a haul like that, you will have bragging rights for some time to come! The pieces are all awesome and of excellent quality.

A lot of variety of things. What is that round, shiny thing in the top picture? A pencil sharpener?

Curious about the strip of aluminum with the writing on it in the 4th pic. What are those symbols? Looks like something out of an alien spaceship or the Lord of the Rings.

Steve the round deal is the back end of a Zebco closed face spinning reel. The shiny strip of alien metal is a nice piece of stainless strapping that almost blew my headphones off. I put it in the recycle bin, maybe they like stainless.

WOW! What a day. Great finds there, GH. Guess I need to get a wet or dry suit and get into the water. Still a little chilly here and the sand on the beaches is high even though we've go really low tides. Get out there and show us some more. Have a good one.

Hey what do you use to check the stones if they're real or CZ..a tester of some kind ??? BTW i bought me a mini weigh scale the other day...guess I better get me a tester just in case eh ???

So does my wife. She's really got her eye on that fine unit! Apparently I'm going to have to buy her an Excal to keep her out of my treasure chest!
