ok, i am having problems with my excal and i have seen others post the same symptoms. when water salt or fresh hits the bottom of the pod and then anywhere on the pod up to being submerged it goes crazy. after being submerged or completely out of the water its fine!!!!!! i tried some adjusting of sens and threshhold but cannot adjust it out. any ideas?????

I'd hate to say it...

But, It needs to be sent into Minelab....

Hope ya have a spare handy... cause it'll take em several months to fix it...

Unbelievable.....I'll bet that they (Minelab) end up having to repair just about every excalibur they ever made. Don't they test the machines before letting them leave the factory?

Sad.......:sadwalk:

it's a Major "Quality Control issue.....

One of my Excals is still sitting on the Bench waiting to be fixed.....

Now .. Joke.... it finally made it to the bench.. Several weeks ago... after a 1 1/2 months of waiting to get to the bench.....

They must have a VERY LARGE BENCH..........

dont blame minelab yet! my particular excal 800 is an older model (blue and grey headphones) and i have spliced a 10 by 12 sef coil on it. however.....there are others with stock excals that have complained about exact same symptoms.

thanks everyone!!! well, i tested it at the lake today and isolated each suspect part. dipped the battery pod in and out of the water,GOOD! dipped the control pod, GOOD! dipped the wire in and  the splice is bad, some of the plasti dip is wearing off of my cable and water must be getting in.

With the history these machines have sounds like you were asking for trouble.Glad you got it worked out,

its a simple fix......you need to seal up battery pod jack real good to keep water from getting inside and causing it to go nuts....i solved that problem on mine last year.
i use some tube lube which can be purchased from a pool supply store for only a few dollars...
but then what do i know..
good luck
