excal problems?????

ok, i am having problems with my excal and i have seen others post the same symptoms. when water salt or fresh hits the bottom of the pod and then anywhere on the pod up to being submerged it goes crazy. after being submerged or completely out of the water its fine!!!!!! i tried some adjusting of sens and threshhold but cannot adjust it out. any ideas?????

Sounds like something is loose. Check the coil wire coming up the shaft and make sure it is not just loose and flopping around. Secure it with velcro or electrical tape. Turn sensitivity to auto and discrimination to 0. Make sure all fittings are SNUG you don't need tools on them. If you still have problems shake coil wire first to see if it is coil problems. If not shake headphone wire battery connection and power pod connection. Clean under coil cover. When you adjust your sensitivity do it slowly until you get a good threshold sound. Hope this helps. and grease the gromet/washer on the battery conector with a dab of silicon grease

Did it do this before your SEF coil change over?

thanks everyone!!! well, i tested it at the lake today and isolated each suspect part. dipped the battery pod in and out of the water GOOD! dipped the control pod GOOD! dipped the wire in and  the splice is bad, some of the plasti dip is wearing off of my cable and water must be getting in.

Your gonna wanna really clean that sucker up some.. especially if some saltwater leeched into the cable some.

Glad you were able to pinpoint the problem..
