EXCAL NOT WORKING ---HELP

BOUGHT A NEW MINELAB LAST SEPT. WHEN I TURN IT ON IT WILL SOMETIMES BE NORMAL,AND SOMETIMES IT WILL BE VERY FAINT YOU CAN BARELY HEAR IT WORK . AND LATELY IT'S THE LATTER. I HAVE CHARGED IT ,AND IT MAKES NO DIFFERANCE. I HAVE ONLY USED IT ABOUT SIX TO EIGHT TIMES. HAS ANYONE EXPERIENCED THIS. PLEASE HELP.
 
No, I have not encountered this outrageous66, I would recommend you call Minelab and ask to speak to Robert. They will probably recommend that you send the unit in. Their warranty is excellent and they WILL take very good care of the unit for you and give it a thorough check-over. Let us know what happens, will ya?
 
I had this happen on a pair of gray ghosts and found that there was a short.
 
You might try turning up the volume and threshold knobs enough so you can hear the threshold. You will miss good targets if the volume isnt turned up enough to hear them with the stock headphones. My threshold is just audible and the volume is about 12 oclock. Or it could be a problem with the headphones but more likely it is user error on the settings. Love my excal 2. Bob
 
Thanks for the input Bob, I tried this ,but it made no differance . Sent it to Minelab last Friday,Minelab should get it about Thursday. I am confindent of a quick turn around . Will let you know how it goes.

Called Minelab today to check on my Excal, talked to Salley, Said the the Excal had been repaired & and sent back on the 26th of Feb. Asked what the problem was with the excal? Said that the plug was bad and had replaced or repaired it. The only cost I had was postage & ins. , $22.05 EXCELLENT JOB, GOOD TURN AROUND , GREAT WARRANTY, THANK -YOU MINELAB.
 
Glad to hear that all is well mate! I have sent in the 1000 3 times and the 800 once and every time is better, than ever! It always runs just premo after they do their majic! Sometimes, when you are not too sure about what the issue may be, it really pays to go ahead and send her on in. Let us know how she performs, will ya? GH

I'll let you know how it works as soon as the snow melts a little, we still have two foot of snow and closer to four foot a long the roads. Say, wasn't you in Michigan on vaction last fall? by Grand Haven ? I lived about six miles north of there. So if you get back here let me know and we can do some pirateing together.
