excal ll maiden hunt

recieved my excal 2 weeks ago but just got to use it today. I'm not new to minelabs . I've been using the sov. for 13 years, but in the surf I prefer P.I. machines. But ever since Ike came through there is just to much iron on the beaches so I decided I needed the excal. My first impression was it sure is pretty but how heavy is this thing. After I got it put together I noticed how balanced it was and was quite surprised. I just might hunt without the hipmount kit. I get to the beach and start hunting and I really start to enjoy myself , easy to swing, easy to pinpoint, most of the time don't even switch to pinpoint. all in all a very good day. very little trash alot lot of coins mostly pennies and dimes. 2 junk earrings, 2 earrings not sure yet. 4 pieces of gold. The first gold find was a 18K white gold necklace with a 14K theater pendent on it. the 3rd piece of gold was a 10K blackhills gold ring. The last gold found was a small ring with the play boy bunny on it. can't read K marking. Very pleased with this machine it doesn't get the depth of a P.I. but makes up for it in other ways. I'm a happy hunter. hh willia.

Willa,

Glad you likeyour Excal...I haven't had as good a luck as you have but I hope when I get it back from Minelab I'll be able to hear it better, sad to be old and deaf... Robert at Minelab said he could double the volume for me. Can't wait, also my hunting is fresh water up here in N/C texas.

The Excal. is a great beach machine.

Please post some pics of your finds.

Let me do a better job of answering that question. It's called the lightening rod I think, I can't remember, and I just got off the phone with gulfhunter and we talked about it. I must be getting old. anyway it's the one that you get when you order a excal from demarco detectors. HH willia

I did a 6 hour hunt, wanted to do more but I've only got to hunt 4 times in the last 4 months and I'm out of detecting shape. Plus it's a 100 mile drive back home.

Thank goodness it is too, as I could not stand too much of his plowing my way, LOL!
