man i am in love already with this Excal ll ! i always wanted a water proof GT and this is as close as you can get..it worked perfect in and out of the water..only adjustment was sensitivity...@6 in the water @8 on wet sand. not a lot of targets here, but it performed excellent!

Outstanding! I just got one too and was wondering how you did... HH Joe

i got the 1000...10" its a little tuff in the water with water resistance,iv always used 8" in water.

Richard at Backwoods detectors, (Where I got my detector) warned me about just that and of course, I had to do just the opposite of what he suggested and get the larger coil. I hope the resistance isn't too much to handle. I wanted to be like Gulf Hunter and swing the big ten inch coil. for the extra ground coverage and a little extra depth.

Hey guys! Well, the 10" is easier to handle, if you guys will drill out the lower stem and coil ears to 5/16". Use a 5/16"X2" nylon bolt and wingnut, to replace the stocker. Resolves the coil flop issue, but do it now, before the coil ears and lower shaft are all wollered out, from flopping. Also, be SURE to use fresh rubber teardrop washers too.

There's something that bothers me about having to drill a hole in a new, $1200.00 metal detector. Doesn't seem right but I guess ya gotta do what ya gotta do.
