Excal knob guard

Neil

Well-known member
Anyone have any comments on which one they like best and references on where to get them?

The old tubular ones were the best but you can't get them anymore. They were made by Bill Babbs.

New..................

I have the An dersons.... came with my new Xcal, but to be honest they make even my small finger hard to turn those knobs. Nice ones OBN. The An dersons doesnt protect the battery pack.

Where did you get the "new" ones? I would like to try one although from the looks of it initially, I dont know how easy it would be to make adjustments.....

I am with Mel completely on the tubular ones. Love em

I was close to getting one but, I was worried about adjustment also....., I seen them on Ebay..UK a few weeks ago and have not seen them since..
Anyone got a picture of the old Bill Babbs tubular, maybe we could make a few up..I do have a source...a pattern would not be that hard to make from a picture..

How far back are we talking for the tubular ones?

Plugger's knob guard provides protection but still allows access to the knobs. I have one on both of my Excaliburs.

Just enclose the whole thing in a big box & be done with it- while we are at it maybe enclose the coil too:rofl:

Mel is this the Old BB tubular one..?

This the tubular version.

Curious.... now that you showed your detector Mel.... i notice your turned yours so you can actually READ the knobs. I was just wondering why everyone tends to turn the pod where the headphones come out the top? Is it for protection of those sensitive battery and coil wires? Gives you a little more headphone cable in that position. That tub knob protector sure would make it easier to twist and turn those knobs.

because I hunt with my right hand and it gives me more headphone cable, it also puts the controls that you use most in a convenient position.

It can also be used to secure your coil connector. They were made by Bill Babbs a few years ago.

Thanks Mel..I will pass these along, like the bigger file for closer look

Mel,

I was wondering were that pushbotton on your handgrip is for ??

Is that for switching between AM and Disc mode.

Thanks,

so, has anyone taken over making this "babb's" tubular version? The stamped out ones are cheap enough, ($30 from plugger) but kinda sharp on the edges on bare hands and not quite enough space for gloved hands.
