Excal II ?

Sand Scoop

New member
I've read posts that some people have ordered Excal II but I haven't seen Kellyco or anyone advertising them. Where have they ordered from?

Sooooo, what'a the big difference between the excal and the EXCALL II???????????????????

The Excal II actually sizes the rings and does chain repairs as well now, so you no longer have to take the stuff to the jeweler's. This has been a long time coming...thanks Minelab!

JT,

You're welcome to take a look at some of my photos taken during Excalibur ll tests...
The new Side Mount Shaft can be seen...this helps in the surf as the control box & battery are now off to the sides of the shaft.
Details of the new Excal ll are now on the Minelab website

I have one ordered with the larger coil through Rick (ND), a findmall sponsor.

Thanks for the pictures and any other info you can post please do so:cheers:

On the pic where the tester is digging a target with the detector in the water besides him, it appears the detector is buoyant. Is it such without the addition of consumer installed flotation?

I see the pictures in this post, but I can not tell anything about performance improvements. I see a new shaft that allows the components to be side mounted, but it looks like it would remain poorly balaced. Are the electronics the same?

TIA
Alton

It truly boggles the mind that minlab did not address the balance and weight issues with this new excal. All they had to do is mount it on the end of a straight shaft.

This spring I was considering a water machine but will probably just attempt to water proof my GT and hope for the best rather than buy an excal and dump more money into mods to make the machine more user friendly.

They did address the balance and weight issue somewhat in that they replaced the older BBS coil with the lighter slimline coil.

Anyone can buy an aftermarket straight shaft cheap enough if thats what they prefer but I would guess alot of people still prefer the S shaft. And what about divers, maybe a diver can comment on which is better for diving.

I just bought an S shaft for my GT as I didnt care for the straight shaft and where the meter mounted on it.

I have an Excal II on the way and will be hipmounting and chestmounting it mostly.

If your gonna mod your GT for water hunting, look on the mods forum and see if you can locate an older post, I think it was made by Paul out in CA. He put a Sovs electronics in a whites beachunter case and also mounted the electronics of the Sov meter inside it. That was the sweetest setup Ive ever seen. I know most people dont like a meter on the beach but I do:cheers:
