Excal II Reliability

I've been using a CZ20 for about 10 years now with an 8"coil. Still works good, its a great machine it has never let me down. I travel a lot with it and it keeps on finding the goods.
I've been thinking of getting another water machine, but with a 10"coil. They don't make the CZ20 anymore and I hear a lot of praise for the Excal.
Just wanted some feedback from Excal owners on their experience with their machine, good, bad? I remember years ago there were a lot of owners claiming they had leaky seals, not good for a underwater machine.
Also read in a post on this forum recently, someone had a problem with erratic signals from his Excal in the wet sand only.
Not trying to cause any arguments here, just looking for some honest opinions,as I am looking possibly at buying one of these wonderful machines in the near future.
Cheers
Colin

Sold mine after it was repaired the second time at my expense (The buyer knew all the details and got the repair slip from ML). It'll probably run fine now for 50 years. Just one experience. I hunt fresh water but if I was going back to the salt I'd take a shot on a CZ before another Excal. If they work, they are one of the best. Jim

Well like any water machine it will eventually break and if U hunt it hard sooner rather than later. That being said I hunt the Gulf 3-6 days a week weather permitting and have 3 excals. 1 excal 2 and 2 excal 1000's with a WOT coil installed. I also have a LS & a Sea Hunter 2 but the excals R my go 2 machines most of the time. IMHO U won't be sorry

I'm really happy with the CZ20, but I want another water mchine with disc and a 10" coil. Think I'll go with the Excal 2 1000.
Cheers
Colin

Like a fine wine, the older is better. Old blue and NOT neon green. Just a humble scallywag's opinion, take it as you will.
