Excal II on the blink

John(Tx)

New member
My hunting partner's excal II went on the blink. Last time he used it was about 1 month ago. Last night he put it on the charger and let it charge for 10 hours. When he went to go check it he noticed the threshold knob was turned on about halfway. He turned it off and turned it back on and nothing, no sound, nothing. The battery is reading 14.10 volts so it's not the battery. He is going to send it to the repair shop in Florida but was just wondering if anybody has had this problem. Thanks....

Make sure the knobs are tight and you hear the click when in the off position. then check all the exposed wires to make sure nothing is broken

John it could be just about anything. I would suggest checking the battery wire to make sure all is good. The Excalibur II's are famous for a short in the wire......also make sure the contacts on the ikelites are making a good connection...you can wiggle them in the dark and see shorting....here is video of the excalbur ll bad battery wire..., think I repaired like 5 last season with this issue...and the funny thing is it is the excal ll only, not the old blues..

You might also try widing the progs on the male battery cable. Got a friend now with a blue sometimes it comes on sometimes it dont. First thought was HEADPHONES. It could be on but you arent hearing it. Swap and see.
