Excal II Headphone reversal

New member
:shrug:I had to send my Excal in because my headphone ikelite connector had some hairline cracks in it. ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS WOW! I had them replace the ikelite with direct wire yellow headphones and I put the grey ghosts in the closet. (Note: I've been using grey ghosts for about 3 years and I really like them.) but...

I can run this thing pretty hot now and the depth has increased due to allowing more sensitivity.

With the Grey Ghosts/Ikelite when detecting chest deep I was getting falsing and had to run sens at 1 to 2:00. Now I'm running hot at 11:00

South Florida has been sanded in for eons, but managed to get a few really deep golds in the 16-18" range since I got it back :detecting:

Jim, I suspect there HAD to be something else done, that has increased your stability. Hard wiring stock Koss headphones will not produce the gains, you described alone. Glad she is purrin' fer ye though!

That's what it sounds like to me also John, I've been using the Grey ghost for a long time and never had the falseing in the deeper water, most of the time i run mine about 11 o clock. Harold in Fla.

Could it be that with less sensative headphones that you can up the power? and hence more depth, just a thought that came to mind as a posible explanatiion
