Excal Headphones

In August I purchased an Excalibur II. I am very disappointed with the headphones that come stock on the detector. Very poor fit, lots of outside noise and poor sound quality.

Contemplating the Gray Ghost Amphibians as replacements for the stock headphones.

I am sure that they will cut outside noise and fit much better but my question is how much improvement can one expect in sound quality over the stock Koss phones.

I have been using the Sovereign Gt with Killer B headphones and the Koss phones on the Excal do not produce anywhere near the same quality of sound.

George Gray Ghost phones are good ones good quality , also you might want to check out OBN,s Skullies the best i have now they are water proof and the signals come in prefect they drown out 90% of outside sounds just as good as my Black Widows , the gel filled ear muff,s are very comfortable . I got a pair of Grey Ghost Amphibians off of OBN ready to install. Compared to the stock Yellow Koss, they are fantastic, and the Volume knob is a big plus. The sound is very good, and they fit so well that you forget you have them on. I would say that the sound is just as good if not better, and you hear more because they do well in blocking out the noise.

Those standard phones are cheaply made..... but a good pair of jel pads help thier fit and outside noise. I dont have a problem with the tones.... IMO once you put in a LOT of hours on the Xcal they arent that bad. I like the style of the GGA.... nicely made and dont slip around on your head. Volume is good because it gives you the option to turn down the phones without turning down the machine. Also they have a very lax cord and you have plenty to allow you to put the machine down. Which could mean less cable replacement down the road. The standard is to stiff. Nothing thou is as loud as the skullies so you can really pick up some weak signals.
