Excal / Grey Ghosts Conversion

Anyone put the Ikalite plug together for this conversion? Red wire seems pretty quiet so it must be the white, hmmm? Just dont want to mess with it if that's all the volume to be had. Just love soldering those little @#$#@#$#s! Not to mention the trust issue...

Wish I could help Clive, but I had Minelab install those buggers for me! Sure do work well, when correctly installed! OBTW, I'm on another 25 straight no gold streak, put that into the next book!

yep, I know what you mean. Just open it up and be done with it.

A little soldering might be good if it was bought used. If new, that's another story.

I've been around the block with this a couple times. The best way to get it done so it lasts is to contact Joe Demarco and Gary Storm and send your unit to Minelab and let them work the logistics.

Gary Storm does a phenominal job of putting the Ikelite on the Gray Ghosts with an appropriate strain relief. When Minelab did mine originally with no strain relief...the wires broke continuously and I finally sent them back to Gary and he fixed me up and I have not had a problem since.

...are you hunting new ground at all? I get in a rut and have to just MAKE myself go into another area, another body of water or just another technique.

Wishin' you the best!

(ExcII 800's are on back order. Joe will let me know the minute he has one for conversion)

I've tried it all, location, unit, etc. I'm just dead-in-the-water over here John! Yes, I'm whining and gold-less for 25 straight hunts, cjc loves to put that in his books!

You sanded in that bad. Guess I might as well stay here and hunt the water if it is that bad. 25 straight  It will get better. Bud. :D: :D: HH Jerry aka Tinfoil

Thanks for the replies guys. Did put in a fist-sized soulder and some duct tape (we Canadians live and breathe the stuff). GG's sound great and am hopingthey stay in one piece. Probably be okay hipmounted but would hate to think how they would be getting pulled on the wand. 20 minutes tops or untill you start to hear the perfect signal...
Scott! At least you can hunt down there, now you just need a bit of fine-tuning. Try scrubbing the edge--in all metal--that first ten feet always saves the day. Hope you break your streak.
